Within the Rural Municipality (RM) of Morris boundary lie the Town of Watrous, the resort Village of Manitou Beach, the Village of Young, and the Village of Zelma. Highway #2 links the RM with Saskatoon, Regina, and Prince Albert and the Canadian National Railway (CNR) mainline passes through the Town of Watrous. The population of the RM is 347 people and encompasses an area of 14 townships or 322,560 square miles.
Land settlement began around 1903 with a great influx of settlers to the area. In 1909, the RM of Morris was formed. The RM oversaw the construction of roads, health care, school districts, collecting taxes for RM improvement, and welcoming new settlers to the area. The RM office is presently located in Young.
Today, the RM has a booming tourism industry with Manitou Beach, and growing communities in Watrous, Manitou Beach and Young and a population always willing to assist others in their community. The main industry of the region is agriculture, but it is also very close to three potash mines. The people of the area are very friendly, the climate is great, and the opportunity for industry is limitless.
